American Cartoons

Lets face it American cartoons have been dumbed down to such level that they should now come with an age warning of ‘Only for under 8 years of age’. Gone are the days when mainstream cartoons could provide wholesome entertainment, virtuous laughs without sacrificing the complexity of the narrative.

This has left the entire legion of animation fans who started turning to animation for their faily dose of entertainment when the rest avenues of entertainment failed, asking for more and better. The tricky question faced by these chaps seems to have found an answer for it in Anime which has always boasted of cult following and niche around it even in the hay days of mainstream cartoons.

As is seen very often nowadays the east is where the people are turning from rest of the world to find solutions to questions that their culture seems to have given up on. Add animation to that list.

Japanese anime has a rich history of spanning over 9 decades boasting of various attributes like diverse storylines, complex character stories, creative hand drawn cartoon characters and a new experience for the eyes of average cartoon viewer.

The fact that even though these series almost always spawn over’s many seasons yet come up with new characters and themes to keep the audience hooked on to the show is a great plus. Case jn point Pokemon XY, the eighteenth season of hit anime series Pokemon, has the crew of lovable pokemon catchers proving their mettle in the newly introduced Kalos region with a horde of new characters introduced to spice up the narrative from time to time.

The popularity of the anime is evident from the fact that they have inspired and monetized through rock musicals, cosplay, and merchandise widely bought all over the world. Bleach leads the pack amongst such popular shows which has been able to attract the new fans and keep the old. Similarly shows like Dragon Ball z have been described as the ultimate escapist’s paradise by many anime watchers. The world can be a difficult place to deal with at times and alternate universes help deal with that fact. If you’re one of those, do watch dragon ball z.

Anime could be summed up as the Pandora’s Box of awesome entertainment that is only going to get better with new additions in the future.
